National Torch Run
The Law Enforcement Torch Run is Special Olympics’ largest fundraiser and public awareness vehicle, raising thousands every two years. At its most basic level, Fire Emergency Services, Police and athletes are the Guardians of the Flame and run the Special Olympics “Flame of Hope” over 400km around Samoa finishing at the Opening Ceremony of Special Olympics Samoa National Games.
Watch, Cheer, Donate, Celebrate
We invite you to become a fan of SO Samoa by gathering your family, school or church on the side of the road to cheer on our special athletes and members as they carry the flame of hope around Samoa. The next run will be held in the lead up to the 2016 National Games.
More than Running
As a whole, the Torch Run encompasses a variety of fundraising vehicles such as donations pledges, corporate donations and special events.
Volunteers Runners are also part of the World Games
Every two years, our volunteer runners are eligible to join the law enforcement personnel from around the world to make up the Final Leg Team that carries the “Flame of Hope” to the Opening Ceremonies of Special Olympics World Games (Winter & Summer).
