Athletes are the heart of Special Olympics Samoa. Our athletes are children and adults with intellectual disabilities from all around the country. They are finding success, joy and friendship as part of our national community. They’re also having lots of fun!
Anyone with an intellectual (learning) disability is eligible to participate in the Special Olympics program regardless of age or ability level.
Special Olympics Samoa offers a full range of training and competition opportunities to all people with intellectual disabilities in Samoa. We also have a Young Athletes Program for children aged 2-7 years.
Children and adults with intellectual (learning) disabilities who participate in the Special Olympics sports programme develop improved physical fitness and motor skills, greater self-confidence and a more positive self-image. They grow mentally, socially and spiritually and ultimately discover not only new friends, abilities and talents, but their “voices” as well.
